Data Driven Formatting in SSRS

John Martin

Ever had that email saying that they are re-branding the company with new colours and fonts, normally not a problem until they mention that the 300+ SSRS reports need to be changed too… In this session I will demonstrate how to make use of SSRS templates, and built in data sets, variable, expressions and a bit of modification to the SSRS database to help make these sorts of requests a simple matter of updating some values in a database. As opposed to pulling the reports out of source control, modifying & testing them and scheduling deployment.

Compliance & the Data Professional

John Martin

Compliance…. It’s something that is becoming more and more prevalent in all areas of the IT industry, especially where data professionals are concerned. In this session I will cover some of the considerations of the main compliance regulations that I see most often, PCI-DSS, Sarbanes-Oxley and the Data Protection Act. What are they and how do they apply to me I hear you say, the answer in many cases is “it depends” so bring your questions and we can discuss them. In addition to this I will also discuss how compliance can help build better systems and drive improvements in processes for all areas of data systems, ranging from the DBA, Developer all the way through the BI spectrum to Big Data.
